THE CAMPSITE

The Campsite

The Camping Site

Our lovely little campsite has a real field on a farm feel about it and we like it that way. We provide basic facilities to serve your needs, but try to keep thing simple. In the field we have marked out pitches in the upper part of the field and then a less formal arrangement in the Bee Friendly area.

  • Grassy Pitches with Electric
  • None Electric Grassy Pitches
  • Secret Corner
  • Bee Freindly Area

If you are wanting to have access to an Electric hook up, you will need to choose from plots 1 through to 12.

The secret corner does have 2 electric hook ups, though is for larger groups. So if you are coming as an extended family, this is the place for you.

Going off grid, or wanting a very short stay, you have the option of either plot 17 or the Bee Friendly area.

In the feild itself, there are 2 outdoor sinks for washing up and a fresh water tap for filling water tanks.

Next to the gate we have a recycling and refuse area, please do not put loose items in here as they tend to escape when being emptied. So please do bage up your recycling and rubbish before putting it in the bins.

Out of the campsite gate and around to the left is where you will find the waste water disposal facility.

Electric Hook Ups

In 2021 we installed a brand new electrical Hook up system into our campsite.

We figured it was high time for the upgrade, as many of us have a few more gadgets that require access to a power source these days.

We now provide access to an electric hook up to all plots from plot 1 up to plot 14. Plots 13 and 14 with access to electric, are in the  Secret corner.

So you can now at last plug in the kettle and make a cup of tea without worrying about tripping out the whole campsite.

The Secret Corner

The secret corner, was named by our customers many years ago… what was then just a dogleg in the hedge that provided a little private corner of the field.

Over the last few years we have adopted this and made it a little bit more of a secret corner by building a few more earth banks around it to create a truly secret and exclusive corner of the campsite.

In 2021 as part of the new electric hook up installation, we added an electric hook up into the secret corner.

The secret corner is a place where extended family groups can book and have their very own little bit a space to enjoy their shared camping experience.

The Bee Friendly Area

As a family and business, we like to share our land with nature. The lower half of our camping field is known as the Bee Friendly area. We leave this area unmown for the first half of the season, this allows all of the wildflowers to flower and go to seed before we cut the grass. Of course, the bees and birds love this, giving them a chance to feed particularly in the spring, when those early spring flowers give them an essential lifeline.

The bonus is that it’s are really pretty area for us to look at and to witness the wildlife appreciating the wild area.

We do mow a path around the perimeter of this area and a couple of random circles for wild camping in the early season.

Beyond the Bee Friendly area are our wild moors, an area we set aside over 20 years ago. This area is now a haven for wildlife with plenty to see for those prepared to sit quietly and wait.

Facilities

Over in the yard we offer the use of our toilets and showers.

The boys toilets have 3 toilet cubicles and 2 hand washing sinks.

In the girls toilets we have 4 toilet cubicles and 2 hand washing sinks.

Also in the yard we have 2 individual show rooms, with heat on demand hot water.

We clean the toilets and showers twice a day as a minimum, though we do ask that you do what you can to keep the toilets and showers clean and ready for the next person to use.

Being in a remote location we are not connected to the mains water disposal system and have our own organic filtration system onsite… so we ask that only organic matter be flushed down the toilets.

Toilet paper is fine, though all other sanitary waste should go in the bins provided.
