About Us

Sue Ward

Owner, Boss and over see'er of all things.

Sue spent her childhood years at what is now the Druidstone Hotel… back then it was the family home. Bought by her father, Dr Gilliam who had his practice in Haverfordwest, before moving the family to Druidstone, providing an incredible start to life for Sue and her brother and sister.

Sue started farming in Druidstone and stayed there for many years before landing her lifelong dream job as caretaker of Ramsey Island. Sue lived on the Island for 10 years, privately own to begin with and then working with the RSPB. On retirement, sue bought Trehenlliw farm and continued to farm for another 20 years. Fulfilling her love for wildlife and low impact farming.

Sue now oversees all activity on the farm, while enjoying a slower pace of life out and about on the farm on her 4x4 quad bike with Tess the ever faithful farm dog…

Pete Ward

General runner of the Campsite, fixer of things, cleaner and grass cutter...

Also owner and Head Guide at The Real Adventure Company.

Pete being Sues youngest son, runs his adventure business The Real Adventure Company from the farm. Fulfilling his lifelong passion for exploring the Pembrokeshire Coastline and sharing his 35 + years of experience with visiting families holidaying in the area.

Pete also runs St Davids Camping, taking over form Sue in the day to day running of the campsite. Developing the website and booking system, general maintenance and improvements of the facilities and of course bumbling about on the ride on mower.

Tess

All General dog duties including Assistant to owner, ball managment and fetching ... (and looking like a fox)

Hello, my name is Tess the official farm dog and loyal companion to Sue. So technically second in command.

Though I say it myself, I am pretty good at my job of being a dog on a farm…

No matter how much I beg you to throw to throw sticks and even stones for me, please don’t… Balls and stuff are awesome, I can do that all day, but please no sticks and stones… I am trying to kick the habit, apparently, they are no good for my teeth or something.

Ian Grey aka (Sting)

Onsite Farmer and keeper of many dogs...

Sting is an old family friend who has over the years kept a few of his sheep on the farm.

Though since Sue’s retirement, Sting now grazes the whole farm. (Well, he doesn’t but his sheep do)

Sting has sheep on land at several locations around North Pembrokeshire, so very busy bombing about, caring for his flocks.

Please do feel free to observe Stings sheep on the farm, it is especially nice to see the young lambs racing around the fields in their gangs. Though we do ask for you to keep your distance and to never go into the field.

We also ask that if you have a dog with you, that they are kept on a lead at all times, as a loose dog can cause a lot of stress and worry to the sheep.

Thank you.
