EXPLORING THE LOCAL AREA

Exploring The Local Area...

St Davids

The very beautiful and charming Cathedral city of St Davids, is literally only 10 minutes walk from our campsite. When we say City its more of a village than anything, with a lovely selection of small shops, pubs, cafes and even a descent supermarket.

There is so much to get up to while in the area… a good place to start is the National parks visitor centre at Oriel y Parc . Though this is no ordinary visitor centre… it’s a gallery, a gift shop, an exhibition centre, a café, its an impressive piece of architecture in its own right,. being an award winning green build. There is also a large National Parks car park and link to the local coastal bus service. We highly recommend spending some time in St Davids while you are in the area.

During the day check out the local history and take a walk down to the Cathedral and associated Bishops Palace, and yes there is yet another café at the Cathedral.

Back in the centre of St Davids, Why not treat yourself to one the best ice creams you will ever have (from the Bench) then take a seat and relaxing at Cross Square, (which is actually tri-angle) being a lovely place to sit and just watch the world go by.

The Coastal Bus Service

The Coastal Bus Service is a great way of getting out and about in Pembrokeshire, no driving, no parking worries and great for helping to relieve local congestion.

Why not jump on the Puffin Shuttle, the Poppit Rocket or the Strumble Shuttle, as a great way of exploring our bit of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

These buses run 7 days a week from May to September and 2 days a week in the winter. They are brilliant if you are planning a coast path walk, simply jump off the bus, walk all day and jump back on when you’re done. (some planning may be required)

It’s a hail and ride service, so just flag the busses down along the coast road and hop on. You can even take your dog on the bus or maybe a buggy or surfboard. I haven’t tried with a sea kayak yet.. it could be awkward.
